Theory Session
In this session, participants receive a compact yet thorough introduction to rubber rheology. Key concepts such as viscosity, modulus, viscoelasticity, and transient viscosity are explained in the context of rubber processing and product performance. Common testing methods like Mooney viscometry, MDR, and RPA are introduced, along with advanced oscillation tests including frequency and strain sweeps, temperature profiles, LAOS, and Payne effect testing. Real-world applications, such as wall slip analysis and ASTM-based testing for recovered carbon black compounds, help illustrate practical relevance. This session builds a strong theoretical base for understanding and interpreting rheological behavior in rubber compounds.
Hands-On Session
The hands-on session focuses on applying theory through practical testing. Using the RPA ultra from Bareiss, participants prepare and test their own rubber samples. They learn to perform rheological measurements, evaluate results, and troubleshoot common issues. Guided demonstrations and expert support help attendees understand how to optimize test settings and interpret data accurately. Real-time challenges can be addressed, making the experience highly relevant to participants’ own production environments. By the end, attendees will be confident in using rheological tools and methods to assess and improve the processability and performance of their rubber compounds.
In between sessions, participants will gain exclusive insights into our high level of in-house production and craftsmanship-style workflows.
